
Ohio Wrestling Announces Addition of Transfer Max Hermes

ATHENS, OHIO—Ohio Wrestling will add transfer Max Hermes for the 2026-27 season, head coach Joel Greenlee announced on Thursday (April 23).
A native of Milan, Ohio who arrives in Athens by way of Rutgers, Hermes will wrestle at 165 lbs. for the Bobcats. Hermes will have two years of eligibility remaining.
In three years at Rutgers, Hermes was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection while compiling a 34-25 record. In those 34 wins Hermes earned eight major decisions, three technical falls, and four falls.
Prior to Rutgers, Hermes was a three-time Ohio state champion at Edison, finishing his high school career with a 223-12 record.
Hermes will join his brother Abe Hermes (Milan, Ohio) on the Ohio wrestling team. In 2023, Max and Abe each won OHSAA state titles at Edison.
