BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (3-19, 1-6 MAC) fell 7-0 to Bowling Green (6-12, 3-4 MAC) in the first game of its series on Friday, March 20.
On the mound, sophomore Luke Bryant (Ashland, Ohio) pitched four innings, allowing five runs on three hits, walked two and struck out three. Senior Dillon Masters (New Albany, Ohio) pitched two innings, allowing two runs on three hits. Freshman Evan Lichtenauer (Newark, Ohio) pitched the final two innings and recorded two strikeouts.
At the plate, graduate student Colton Shirley (Anderson, Ind) went 1-for-1. Fifth-year Will Henson (Chicago, Ill.) and junior Cameron Boyd (Villa Hills, Ky.) each went 1-for-4 at the plate.
After a scoreless first inning, Bowling Green scored five runs on two hits for a 5-0 lead heading into the third.
After strong pitching held the score at 5-0, the Falcons added two to their total in the bottom of the sixth, extending their lead to 7-0.
Following a scoreless seventh inning, the Bobcats loaded the bases in the top of the eighth but were unable to score any runs.
Ohio held Bowling Green scoreless in the bottom of the eighth, but ultimately dropped game one, 7-0.
Up next, Ohio will play game two of its series against Bowling Green tomorrow, March 21. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
