NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ohio softball team (12-7) wrapped up their weekend in Tennessee this afternoon (March 1), falling to Belmont (13-5), 3-0, ES Rose Park.
Overall, Ohio did not score a run on one hit and did not commit an error, while Belmont scored three runs on six hits and did not commit and error.
At the plate, junior
Izzie Wilson (Delaware, Ohio) recorded the Bobcats lone hit, while senior
Colleen Bare (Pickerington, Ohio) drew a walk.
In the circle, graduate student
Skipp Miller (Bradford, Ohio) got the start, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, walked one and struck out one. Senior
Keegan Moore (South Point, Ohio) pitched one inning and did not allow a run or a hit.
Belmont got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly.
After little action over the next three innings, Ohio got on the bases in the top of the fifth when Wilson singled to right to lead off the inning. However, Belmont would get the next three batters to strikeout, sending the game to the bottom of the inning with Ohio still trailing 1-0.
Belmont would add on in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs on back-to-back RBI doubles to take a 3-0 lead into the sixth.
The Bobcats' offense looked to get going over the remaining two innings, however, they were unable to do so, falling 3-0.
Up next, the Bobcats head to Cullowhee, N.C. March 6-8 for the 2026 Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina. While there, Ohio will face Penn, Robert Morris and host Western Carolina.
