See Records First Career Win, Ohio Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Murray State

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Ohio baseball team (1-2, 0-0 MAC) split its doubleheader (8-11, 15-13) against Murray State (2-1, 0-0 OVC) on Sunday, Feb. 15 in Carbondale, Ill. The victory in game two marks head coach Andrew See's first career win at the helm of the Ohio baseball team.
 
Game 1: Murray State 11, Ohio 8
Ohio finished with 11 hits and three errors while Murray State finished with eight hits and two errors.
 
Junior Cameron Boyd (Villa Hills, Ky.) led Ohio three hits, including a double and a home run, and two RBI's. Boyd and redshirt sophomore Max Palinski (Gates Mills, Ohio) scored a team-high two runs each. Junior Taylor Harris (Parrish, Fla.) and fifth year Will Henson (Chicago, Ill.) both finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Redshirt junior Cam Bryant (Miamisburg, Ohio) added a hit and two RBI's.
 
Junior Ethan Stewart (Langsville, Ohio) and senior Landon Price (Middle Point, Ohio) pitched substantial innings for Ohio. Stewart recorded two strikeouts, allowed four hits and three earned runs in 3.1 innings pitched. Price pitched 3.0 innings and allowed one unearned run.
 
Murray State unleased on Ohio with seven runs in the first inning, taking a 7-0 lead over the Bobcats.
 
The Bobcats got on the board in the top of the second inning. Ohio scored three runs on two hits including a RBI single by senior Reese Harmon (Columbus, Ind.).
 
After a scoreless third inning, Murray State score three runs in the fourth and went up 10-3 over Ohio.
 
The Bobcats scored two more runs in the fifth inning. Harris kicked off the inning with a single, followed by Palinski's walk and a single by Boyd. Bryant followed with a two-run double, cutting Murray State's lead to 10-5. The Racers went up 11-5 before the end of the fifth inning.
 
Ohio scored one run in the sixth inning off a RBI sac fly by Henson. The Bobcats looked to be making a comeback effort in the eighth inning. Boyd's two-run home run cut Murray State's lead to 11-8. However, Ohio was unable to catch up with Murray State and ultimately fell 11-8.
 
Game 2: Ohio 15, Murray State 13
Ohio finished with 15 hits and no errors while Murray State finished with 14 hits and two errors.
 
Junior Tyler Stack (Oswego, Ill.) was an offensive force for Ohio as e finished with four hits including one double, four RBI's, two runs and two stolen bases. Sophomore Grant Wilson (Bradenton, Fla.) finished 3-for-5 at the plate including two doubles. Wilson also recorded two runs and three RBI's. Boyd and Henson tallied two hits and three runs each.
 
Freshman Evan Lichtenauer (Newark, Ohio) earned his first start on the mound and win at Ohio. In 2.0 innings pitched, Lichtenauer recorded one strikeouts, allowed three runs and four hits on 11 batters faced. Sophomore Chase Keen (London, Ky.) led the bullpen with three strikeouts while junior AJ Dallmayer (Washington Court House, Ohio) finished with two strikeouts.
 
Boyd kicked off the game with a double to right field. Bryant got Ohio on the board with an RBI single in the top of the first, allowing Boyd to score. Murray State answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first, taking a 3-1 lead over Ohio.
 
Ohio scored three runs on three hits and one errors in the second inning. With two players on base, Stack hit a RBI double and cut Murray State's lead to 3-2. A two-run double by Palinski allowed the Bobcats to take a 4-3 lead over the Racers.
 
The teams scored a run a piece in the third inning with Ohio maintaining a 5-4 lead over Murray State.
 
The fourth inning was a big one as Ohio scored five runs on three hits. Back-to-back RBI singles by Henson and sophomore Brady Alexander (Glenshaw, Pa.) put Ohio up 8-5 over Murray State. Henson went on to score a run off a RBI single put in play by Stack. The Bobcats held the Racers to one run in the bottom of the fourth. Ohio ended the inning with a 10-5 lead over Murray State.
 
Ohio extended its lead to 12-5 with Boyd's second home run of the day. The Racers challenged the Bobcats in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs on four hits. Ohio only led Murray State 12-10 heading into the eighth inning.

The Bobcats scored three runs on two hits in the top of the ninth inning, going up 15-10 against the Racers. Murray State attempted to catch Ohio, scoring three runs on two hits in the bottom of the ninth. Ohio held on to earn a 15-13 victory over the Racers.
 
The Bobcats will be back in action at Tennessee Tech on Friday, Feb. 20. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. ET.
