ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio football team (4-2, 2-0 MAC) owns the nation's longest home winning streak at 16 straight wins on Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium. The streak was previously held by Indiana, who won 19 straight before dropping its matchup against Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 17.
On August 18, 2022, the Ohio football program announced that the football field in Peden Stadium would be named Frank Solich Field, in honor of the winningest coach in Mid-American Conference history with 115 wins in the green and white.
The Bobcats won 10 straight on the Frank, highlighted by a 10-7 victory over Iowa State. Ohio's lone loss at home in the time span was Oct. 28 against Miami, but bounced back two weeks later, defeating Central Michigan at home for the first time since 2000. Defensive end Shane Bonner recorded a pick-six, and quarterback Kurtis Rourke threw for 222 yards to help secure the Bobcats' first victory over the Chippewas since 2011.
The Bobcats opened the 2024 season with nonconference home wins against South Alabama and Morgan State, extending the streak to three games.
Ohio then tore through its Mid-American Conference opponents at home, winning all three matchups with an average margin of victory of 25 points. The Bobcats went on to win the MAC Championship in Detroit, beating rival Miami (Ohio) 38-3 for their first conference title since 1968.
The eighth win of the streak was arguably the most memorable, a 17-10 victory over West Virginia in front of a record crowd of 26,740 at Peden Stadium. Quarterback Parker Navarro completed 22 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Chase Hendricks caught eight passes for 121 yards. Hendricks went on to lead the nation with 456 receiving yards through the first four weeks of the season.
After three more home wins, the Bobcats got their revenge on the RedHawks at home, winning 24-20 in the 'Battle of the Bricks' before defeating UMass to close out home play in 2025.
Ohio is 3-0 at home this season. The Bobcats opened with a four-overtime thriller against Jacksonville State in front of more than 21,000 Ohio faithful, then routed Stonehill 35-7. Their latest win came against Central Michigan on homecoming, when quarterback Nick Poulos threw three first-half touchdown passes on their way to a 31-14 victory.
27 games, five years, two double-digit win streaks, just one loss. There's something special about Ohio football on Frank Solich Field. Â
Ohio will look to extend the streak to 17 games when it hosts Eastern Michigan on senior day Saturday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
