
Ohio Wrestling Drops Match to Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—The Ohio Wrestling Team (6-7, 1-3 MAC) dropped a MAC dual meet to the Central Michigan Chippewas (7-4, 1-1 MAC) 23-10 on Friday night (Jan. 30).
Freshman Brayden Teunissen (Belvidere, Ill.) got the Bobcats off to a strong start at 125 lbs. with an 11-2 major decision victory over Central Michigan's Colton Camacho. After a quiet first period without any points recorded, Teunissen started the second period on top and earned two points for a nearfall. After Camacho was assessed a stalling penalty, Teunissen held a 4-1 lead after two periods. Beginning the third period on bottom, Teunissen recorded a quick escape. Teunissen attacked later in the third period with a takedown for a 7-1 margin, before recording another takedown for a 10-2 advantage. With a bonus point for riding time, Teunissen secured the 11-2 major decision victory.
Redshirt senior Garrett Thompson (Murrysville, Pa.) got the Bobcats back on the board at 174 lbs with a 4-2 decision victory over CMU's Cody Brenner. After a scoreless first period, Thompson started the second period on bottom and earned a quick escape point. Thompson followed an attack from Brenner by taking control for a takedown and 4-0 lead after two periods. Thompson would hold on in the third period on his way to a 4-2 decision victory.
At 184 lbs, Redshirt senior Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) recorded an 8-3 decision victory over CMU's Adrien Cramer. Perrine recorded a takedown early in the first period to take a quick 3-0 lead in the match. A closely contested second period allowed Perrine to gain control of riding time, placing him in position for a bonus point. Perrine recorded another takedown and survived an attack from Cramer in the third period for the bonus point decision victory.
