ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio men's basketball has added Casey Crawford to the staff as an assistant coach, head coach
Jeff Boals announced today (Sept. 23). Crawford returns to Ohio after spending one year as the Director of Basketball Operations at Stony Brook.
"Casey Crawford was an integral and impactful part of the men's basketball program from 2019-2024, both in a manager and graduate assistant capacity," Boals said. "As a Bobcat graduate that has a deep understanding of OU basketball, Casey's passion, energy and work ethic will continue to enhance our current, high-performing staff and culture from day one."
In his one season at Stony Brook, Crawford's responsibilities included leading pre-and post-game film sessions, scout opponents, coordinate video operations and coach and develop post players through position-specific drills.
Prior to his arrival in Long Island, Crawford served as a graduate assistant on Boal's staff at Ohio. In his role with the Bobcats, Crawford maintained NCAA compliant recruiting logs, aided the Director of Operations in meal and operations coordination and assisted with OHIO Basketball Camps.
Before serving as a graduate assistant on staff at Ohio, Crawford held the position of head student manager. He maintained and organized a group of 10 managers through day-to-day activities, assisted in the coordination of travel efforts and created managerial schedules for away games and events.
Through coaching, Crawford has played a role in the development of players like Mark Sears, Jason Preston, Jason Carter, Dwight Wilson III and Ben Vander Plas.
Crawford earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2022 and a Master of Science in Recreation in 2024 from Ohio.
