ATHENS, Ohio— Ohio football alumnus
Marcel Walker-Burgess signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats today (May 5).
Walker-Burgess marks the second Bobcat from the 2024 MAC Championship team to sign with a Canadian Football League (CFL) team; offensive lineman
Christophe Atkinson signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on April 29. Multiple notable Ohio football alumnus are active in the CFL: defensive lineman Casey Sayles is also on the Tiger-Cats. Sayles, running back AJ Ouellette is on the Saskatchewan Roughriders and quarterback Nathan Rourke plays for the BC Lions. Â
Â
Walker-Burgess (Piscataway, N.J.) played in all 14 games for the Bobcats in 2024 and was a part of the defensive unit that held Miami (Ohio) to just three points during the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championship game. On the season, he tallied 56 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and six sacks. Additionally, Walker-Burgess forced two fumbles and one interception with two pass breakups. Notably, he recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss, a sack and a forced fumble against Kentucky (Sept. 21).Â

Prior to Ohio, Walker-Burgess played for Nevada and Southern Connecticut State. No stranger to championships, he was a member of Piscataway High School's  2018 state championship team.Â
