Kelsi Harris from Ohio cross country/track and field and graduate student
Miles Fleming from Ohio football were named as Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence Award winners for the 2024-25 academic year, the league announced Wednesday (May 28).
The Medal of Excellence is an award presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the 12 Conference member institutions.
Fleming (Columbus, Ohio), a Health & Wellness in Sport & Performing Arts major with a 3.68 GPA has been a part of the Bobcats' safety core since 2023 when he transferred from Minnesota. Overall, Fleming has played in 20 games in his career in the Green and White, recording three solo tackles and two assisted for five total career tackles. This past season, Fleming saw action in eight games with four tackles and a 2024 MAC Championship.
Fleming was also named to the 2024 Academic All-MAC Team.
Throughout her career at Ohio, Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) has been one of the top performers among the talented distance squad on the women's cross country and track & field teams. Since joining the program in 2021, she has represented Ohio at nine MAC Championships including three cross country, three indoor track & field and three outdoor track & field. A few of Harris' accomplishments include earning a bronze medal in the women's 10,000 meters at the 2024 MAC Outdoor Championships and being named Second Team All-MAC for her performance at the 2024 MAC Cross Country Championships. In total, she has recorded four podium finishes at the indoor and outdoor conference meets.
Harris has earned Academic All-MAC honors eight times in addition to being selected to the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District team. Harris was also a SAAC membership chair during the 2024-25 academic year. Harris recently graduated with her bachelor's degree in psychology, achieving a 3.735 undergraduate GPA.
To receive the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes must have participated at the varsity level in a Conference-sponsored sport, maintained a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, and demonstrated excellence in athletics, leadership, and service. Honorees are selected by their respective institutions.
Twenty-four Mid-American Conference (MAC) student-athletes will be presented with the Medal of Excellence Award during the 2025 Honors Dinner Ceremony at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Tower as part of MAC Spring Meetings on Thursday, May 29th.
