ATHENS, Ohio – Led by redshirt junior pitcher
Skipp Miller's no hitter, the Ohio softball team (34-15, 17-6 MAC) wrapped up the home slate of the 2025 season, splitting a doubleheader with Ball State (30-15, 15-8 MAC) Tuesday afternoon (April 29) at the Ohio Softball Field. Ohio took game one in a thrilling 2-0 no-hit victory, before falling to the Cardinals, 5-2, in game two.
GAME ONE Ohio 2, Ball State 0
Overall, Ohio scored two runs, on one hit and committed one error, while Ball State did not record a hit and committed one error.
In the circle, Miller (Bradford, Ohio) was spectacular, pitching seven no-hit innings, while walking one and striking out five.
Sophomore
Brenna Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) had the Bobcats lone hit, a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning, while senior
Lauren Yuhas (West Mifflin, Pa.) drew a walk for Ohio.
Ball State got the leadoff runner on with a walk, however, moments later, junior
Shelby Westler (Marion, Ohio) turned a double play to clear the bases. After another Cardinal reached on an error, Miller recorded her first strikeout of the game to send the inning.
Just as Ball State did, Yuhas opened the inning with a walk, however, Ball State was able to force the next three Bobcats to ground out, ending the inning and sending the game to the second still scoreless.
After a scoreless second and third inning from both teams, Ball State threatened again. After the first two batters reached after being hit by a pitch, the Ohio defense was able to record a foul out, senior
Emma Hoffner (New Stanton, Pa.) threw out the runner attempting to steal third and Miller recorded the final strikeout, ending the threat and sending the game to the bottom of the frame scoreless.
After a scoreless fifth and top of the sixth, Ohio struck in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs, senior
CiCi Keidel (Hilliard, Ohio) reached on an error by the Ball State third baseman. Moments later, Farmer took advantage of the miscue, crushing a two-run home run to center, giving Ohio a 2-0 lead. The home run was the first hit of the game for either team.
Miller and the Ohio defense made easy work of the Cardinals in the top of the seventh, retiring Ball State in order with junior
Izzie Wilson (Delaware, Ohio), catching the final out and securing the 2-0 no-hitter for the Miller and the Bobcats.
GAME TWO: Ball State 5, Ohio 2
Overall, Ohio scored two runs on four hits, and committed three errors, while Ball State scored five runs on 10 hits and committed one error.
At the plate, Yuhas had one hit and one RBI, while Keidel added a hit and Farmer drew a walk and recorded an RBI. Freshman
Abby Kennelly (Waterville, Ohio) added a hit, a run scored a drew two walks, while Westler recorded one hit, scored one run and drew one walk.

Anna Wise (Broadview Heights, Ohio) got the start, pitching five innings, allowing two runs on six hits, while one and struck out three. Miller pitched 2.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, walked one and struck out one.
The Cardinals struck first in the top of the first inning, scoring two runs on an RBI single up the middle. With the bases loaded and two outs, Westler snagged a line drive at third to end the inning and keeping the game at 2-0 headed into the bottom of the inning.
After a scoreless second inning from both teams, Ohio tied the game in the bottom of the third. After Kennelly led the inning off with an infield single, show would score on an RBI single from Yuhas. Moments later, a sacrifice fly from Farmer scored Westler, tying the game at 2-2 headed into the fourth inning.
After the Ohio defense turned double plays in the top of the fifth and the sixth innings, Ohio threatened in the bottom of the sixth. After Farmer drew a walk, junior
Colleen Bare (Pickerington, Ohio) entered to run for her and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch, putting a runner in scoring position with one out. However, the Ball State defense was able to secure the final two outs, leaving the runner at third with the game still tied at 2-2.
Ball State took the lead in the top of the seventh inning, scoring three runs on four hits and one error, putting the Cardinals up, 5-2 headed into the bottom of the inning.
Ohio looked to rally in the bottom of the inning, with Kennelly and Westler reaching with no outs. However, Ball State was able to retire the next three Bobcats, ending the threat and securing the 5-2 win.

The Bobcats conclude the 2025 regular season May 3-4 when they head to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a three-game series with Western Michigan. All three games will be streamed on the WMU website.
