Ohio Women's Track & Field Concludes Day 2 at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Ohio women's track & field team concluded the second day of competition at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational on Saturday, April 16.
Sophomore Emilee Baumann (Powell, Ohio) was one of Ohio's top performers of the day in the women's pole vault. Baumann placed second in Flight C (3.51m/11-6.25) with the fourth-best outdoor mark in program history.
The Bobcats competed in the women's 3000m steeplechase for the first time this season. Freshman Mairin O'Brien (Lewis Center, Ohio) won the race with a time of 10:52.91. Sophomore Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) placed seventh (11:19.13) and freshman Eva Hensley (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed 10th (11:34.63).
Three out of four Bobcats ran PR's in the women's 100m. Senior Taja Booker (Simpsonville, S.C.) placed 13th with a time of 11.73. Junior Rhiea Gordon (Youngstown, Ohio) ran a PR of 12.06, sophomore Arissa Leo (Washington, D.C.) ran a PR of 12.18 and sophomore Jael Sykes (Hatfield, Pa.) ran a PR of 12.26.
Ohio had three athletes place in the top 20 of the women's 1500m. Senior Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) placed 10th (4:38.62). Freshman Jaclyn Garvey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) placed 13th with a PR of 4:41.13 and junior Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) placed 18th with a PR of 4:44.68.
In day one of the heptathlon, sophomore Gracie Smith (Grove City, Ohio) is currently in fifth place. Smith recorded PR's in the shot put (9.28m/30-5.5) and the 200m (26.83).
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational on Sunday, April 27.
