Garvey Wins 800m as Ohio Women’s Track & Field Concludes the We Fly Challenge

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ohio women's track and field's second day at the We Fly Challenge was highlights by several personal records and a first-place finish by freshman Jaclyn Garvey (Grand Blanc, Mich.). The Bobcats concluded competition at Ball State on Saturday, April 12.
Garvey (2:13.65) won the women's 800m and was one of three Bobcats to place in the top five in the event. Sophomore Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) placed third (2:15.39) and sophomore Elinor Shuttleworth (Beavercreek, Ohio) and placed fourth (2:16.43).
Sophomore Jada Irwin (Fairfield, Ohio) represented Ohio in two of the sprints events. Irwin ran personal best times in the women's 200m (25.05) and the women's 400m (56.78).
Senior Millie Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) was Ohio's top field performer of the day. Ryan placed third in the women's shot put with a mark of 13.08 meters (16-11.25).
Three Bobcats ran new PR's in the women's 1500m with senior Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) leading the way in seventh place (4:37.05). Freshman Mairin O'Brien (Lewis Center, Ohio) followed behind Liederbach in 15th place (4:40.17). Freshman Eva Hensley (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded a PR of 4:44.19 and Besett ran a PR of 4:46.59.
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Brian Clay Invitational on Wednesday, April 16.
