
Three Crowned MAC Champs as Ohio Swim and Dive Sit in Second After Day 3 at MAC Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ohio women's swimming and diving team concluded an exciting third day at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday (Feb. 28). Ohio finished the day with individual championships from senior Gabrielle McKee, sophomore Zita Szoke and junior Casadie DiBetta and sit in second place with 424.5 points.
In the first event of the night, the 100-yard fly, freshman Jordan Claypoole (Parkersburg, W. Va) placed first in the 'B' final and ninth overall with a time of 54.33.
In the 400 IM, McKee (Gilbertsville, Pa.) placed first, earning the first individual championship of her career, finishing with a time of 4:16.17. Junior Emily Ellsworth (Westerville, Ohio) placed third, touching in with a time of 4:19.50, while junior Morgan Brown (Roanoke, Ind.) placed fifth with a time of 4:22.38.
The Bobcats weren't finished in the 400 IM, with senior Raphaelle Anglade (Toulouse, France) placing eight with a time of 4:28.94, while freshman Melissa Blaine (Cape Coral, Fla.) placed 11th with a time of 4:27.30.
In the 200 free, Szoke (Hodmezovasarhely, Hungary) picked up her second-straight MAC title, shattering the school record, MAC Championship record and pool record with a time of 1:44.74, breaking her own mark that she set earlier in the day in the prelims.
Graduate student Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) finished fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.14, while sophomore Katie Buroker (Zionsville, Ind.) finished 15th in 1:51.07 and junior Anna McGrath (Lewis Center, Ohio) in 16th with a time of 1:51.28.
In the 100-yard breaststroke DiBetta (St. Clairsville, Ohio) earned her second-straight MAC title, finishing the race with a new school record and pool record with a time of 59.81. Senior Julia Strine (Shippensburg, Pa.) placed second, finishing the race in 1:00.53, while senior Edie Sawyer (Cranberry Township, Pa.) placed seventh, touching in with a time of 1:03.06.
Junior Allison Schrank (Blaine, Minn.) placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke, touching in with a time of 54.73.
In the final event of the night, the 200 free relay, the Ohio squad of Szoke, Dunigan, Claypoole and Buroker placed second, finishing with a time of 1:30.28.
In the 3-meter dive consolation final, sophomore Astrid Pichardo (Guanajuato, Mexico) placed 14th overall, finishing with a score of 241.10.
Ohio concludes the 2025 MAC Championships on Saturday, March 1. Prelims are set to begin at 10 a.m. ET, with finals set for 6 p.m. ET. Fans can head to the MAC Championship Central page for links for both streams.
