BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ohio women's basketball team (6-20, 4-11 MAC) fell 91-61 at Bowling Green (16-11, 9-6 MAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Senior
Kennedi Watkins (Ballwin, Mo.) led the Bobcats with 16 points. Sophomore
Bailey Tabeling (Seymour, Ind.) also added 14 points for Ohio. Senior
Kate Dennis (Rockford, Ill.) grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Freshman
Gigi Bower (Powell, Ohio) and Tabeling distributed a team-high three assists each. Graduate student
Aliah McWhorter (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the team in steals with a total of three.
It was a competitive first quarter for both teams. Ohio held a 11-8 lead with 5:46 left in the first. Bowling Green tied the game at 11-11 with 4:50 to go and went on to take the lead. Despite trailing 21-13 with 2:20 to go the quarter, the Bobcats continued to fight and worked to shorten the Falcons' lead. At the end of the first, Bowling Green led Ohio 21-18.
The second quarter was a tough one for the Bobcats as they struggled with scoring. Bowling Green found success from the three-point line, shooting 5-for-8 from the arc. The Falcons also had a lot of free throw opportunities; finishing 8-for-12 from the line. Heading into the locker room, Bowling Green led Ohio 50-27.
After three quarters of play, Ohio trailed Bowling Green 70-44. Bowling Green went on to defeat Ohio, 91-61 and win the game.
The Bobcats will be back in action when they host Miami (OH) on Saturday, March 1. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
