EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Ohio wrestling team (7-4, Mid-American Conference 5-2) was back on the road on Friday evening (Feb. 14) for a dual against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) (7-6, 4-1 MAC) in Edwardsville, Illinois. The Bobcats fell to the Cougars, concluding the match with a score of 22-12.

Redshirt sophomore Derek Raike (Point Pleasant, W.Va.) opened the dual for Ohio in the 149-pound weight class against Hayden Whidden, and Raike emerged victorious with a 4-1 decision, giving Ohio an early lead over SIUE. As the match progressed, the Cougars and Bobcats exchanged points on the board. Ohio's redshirt sophomore Jack Lledo (Penn Valley, Pa.) secured a narrow victory over Bradley Gillum with a 4-3 decision in the 165-pound class. Following that, redshirt freshman Jeremy Olszko (Northfield, Ohio) defeated Deron Pulliam in the 184-pound class with a commanding 5-1 decision. Redshirt senior Jordan Greer (Avon, Ohio) emerged victorious in the heavyweight class after a hard-fought matchup against Bryson Buhk, with both wrestlers battling fiercely until the final seconds of the third period. Greer clinched the victory with an 8-6 decision, tipping the scales in favor of Ohio over SIUE with a score of 12-9. The Cougars managed to defeat the Bobcats in the remaining weight classes, ultimately securing the dual victory with a final score of 22-12.
