
Ohio Defeats Gardner-Webb to Sweep Weekend Duals

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Ohio Bobcats defeated the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs 28-15 on Sunday afternoon, winning their final dual meet of the calendar year. After falling behind 15-3 after the 149 lb. match, the Bobcats roared to life, winning each of the remaining matches to secure a 28-15 victory and go 2-0 in dual meets over the weekend.

Redshirt sophomore Jeremy Olszko (Northfield, Ohio) was a standout performer for the Bobcats on Sunday, recording a fall against Gardner-Webb's Isaiah Guerrero in the 174 lb. match. Olszko recorded two early takedowns to build a 10-2 lead after two periods, before recording a third period pin to end the match. Now 4-0 in dual meets on the season, Olszko's win secured a critical six points for the Bobcats, giving them a lead in the match they would not relinquish. Â

At 125 lbs, freshman Brayden Teunissen (Belvidere, Ill.) started off the match strong for the Bobcats, battling to get his match to overtime before recording a takedown at the end of the first overtime period to secure a 4-1 win by sudden victory over the Runnin' Bulldogs' Matthew Rowland.

At 157 lbs, redshirt junior Derek Raike (Point Pleasant, W. Va.) got the Bobcats back on the board with a 12-3 major decision victory over Gardner Webb's Joseph Giordano. Raike recorded two early takedowns and secured two minutes of riding time in the victory.

At 165 lbs, redshirt junior Jack Lledo (Penn Valley, Pa.) built on the Bobcat's momentum with a 14-4 major decision victory over Gardner-Webb's Luke Murray.

At 184 lbs, redshirt senior Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) followed up Olszko's dominant performance with another strong effort of his own, recording an 11-2 major decision victory over Gardner-Webb's Haydn Daniels that improved his season dual meet record to 4-0.

At 197 lbs, redshirt Senior Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio) recorded a first period takedown and second period reversal, before adding another takedown in the third period to go along with over five minutes of riding time to secure a dominant 10-0 major decision victory. Lehman's victory clinched the match for the Bobcats, and improved him to 4-0 in duals this season.

At 285 lbs, sophomore Wyatt Schmitt (Shorewood, Ill.) recorded a takedown in the first and third periods to help him secure a 8-1 decision victory and 2-0 record on the weekend.
