MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Ohio volleyball team (11-15, 9-5 MAC) earned the series sweep over Central Michigan (9-17, 6-8 MAC) with a 3-1 (28-26, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19) victory on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Ohio finished with a .287 attack percentage, 54 kills, six aces, nine blocks, 48 assists and 42 digs. Central Michigan finished with a .193 attack percentage, 44 kills, four aces, eight blocks, 38 assists and 43 digs.
During the game, sophomore
Bryn Janke (Westfield, Wis.) reached the 1,000 career assist milestone after recording her 13
th assist of the game. Janke led the team in assists with 22 total while sophomore
Lexi Grissett (Albany, Ohio) added 15 assists. Grissett also recorded her first career double-double with a team-high 11 digs.
Junior
Torre Kildow (Bethesda, Ohio) led the team in kills with 13 total in addition to tallying 14.0 points and two blocks. Junior
Gentry Brown (Shadyside, Ohio) recorded a team-high 15.5 points in addition to 12 kill, two aces, three blocks and seven digs.
Junior
Emily Waddell led Ohio in blocking with a team-high six block assists. Waddell also recorded five kills, five digs and 8.0 points.
Ohio got off to a good start, earning a 1-0 lead after winning the first set in a 28-26 decision. The Bobcats extended their lead to 2-0 after winning the second set 25-21.
Central Michigan cut Ohio's lead to 2-1 after taking the third set 25-21.
The momentum swung back into Ohio's favor during the fourth set. Ohio averaged about a two point lead for majority of the set. At 20-19, the Bobcats went a five-point scoring run to win the set and the game. Ohio won the fourth set in a 25-19 decision, defeating Central Michigan 3-1.
The Bobcats will be back in action at Northern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. ET.
