MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ohio volleyball team (7-15, 5-5 MAC) dropped a five set battle at Ball State (14-8, 10-0 MAC), falling 3-2 (25-12, 25-19, 16-25, 20-25, 9-15) on Friday, Oct. 24.
Ohio finished with 58 kills, six aces, six blocks, 53 assists and 69 digs. Ball State finished with 51 kills, nine aces, nine assists.
Freshman
Bailey Blair (Louisville, Ky.) led Ohio's offense with 14 kills and 14.0 points. Junior
Torre Kildow (Bethesda, Ohio) contributed 12 kills and 12.0 points. Senior
Kendall White (Gahanna, Ohio) tallied a team-high 33 assists in addition to three kills.
Junior
Emily Waddell (Carmel, Ind.) led Ohio's defense with two block solos and three block assists. Junior
Kendall Hickey (Fishers, Ind.) recorded a team-high 18 digs while junior
Gentry Brown (Shadyside, Ohio) added 14 kills.
Ohio got off to a strong start with a dominating 25-12 win in the first set. Ohio's momentum continued in the second set. The Bobcats extended their lead to 2-0 with a 25-19 win in the second set. Ohio recorded a .367 attack percentage in the first set and a .394 attack percentage in the second set. At the end of the first two sets, Ohio already had compiled 30 total kills.
Ball State was resilient, answering back with three-straight set wins. The Cardinals won the third set and followed that up with a 25-20 win in the fourth and a 15-9 win in the fifth. Ball State came back and defeated Ohio, 3-2.
The Bobcats will be back in action at Ball State on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
