HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The Ohio swimming and diving team (3-1) returned to action on Friday, Jan. 24, defeating Marshall (5-2), 172-128, on the road.

In the first event of the night, the 400-yard medley relay, the Ohio A team of junior Allison Schrank (Blaine, Minn.), junior Casadie DiBetta (St. Clairsville, Ohio), freshman Jordan Claypoole (Parkersburg, W. Va.) and graduate student Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) placed second with a time of 3:47.97.

In the 1,000-yard freestyle, senior Gabrielle McKee (Gilbertsville, Pa.) placed first with a time of 10:19.39, while sophomore Ashley Sallows (Delaware, Ohio) placed third (10:31.29), freshman Maddie Berg in fourth (10:36.27) and sophomore Melissa Blaine (Cape Coral, Fla.) in fifth with a time of 10:38.76.

In the 200 free, sophomore Zita Szoke (Hodmezovasarhely, Hungary) placed first in 1:49.50, breaking her first pool record of the night, while junior Anna McGrath (Lewis Center, Ohio) placed third with a time of 1:54.90. Then in the 100 back, Schrank placed second with a time of 58.20, followed by junior Morgan Brown (Roanoke, Ind.) in third (58.68) and sophomore Melanie Schweikert (Maineville, Ohio,) in fourth with a time of 58.96.

DiBetta was back in action in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing first with a time of 1:02.83, followed by senior Julia Strine (Shippensburg, Pa.) in second with a time of 1:04.35 and junior Emily Ellsworth (Westerville, Ohio) in fourth (1:05.25).

In the 200 fly, McKee placed second with a time of 2:02.92, while sophomore Isabella Arbaugh (Ann Arbor, Mich) placed fifth with a time of 2:09.83. Then in the 50 free, Szoke placed first in 23.22, with another pool record, followed by Dunigan in 23.86 and Claypoole in fourth (24.38).

Szoke also picked up a first-place finish in the 100 free, touching in with a time of49.82 and her third pool record of the evening, followed by Dunigan in second (52.17) and sophomore Katie Buroker (Zionsville, Ind.) in fourth with a time of 52.96. In the 200 back, Schweikert placed second, followed by freshman Juliana Slaninka in third (2:05.79) and freshman Sofia Matern (Cincinnati, Ohio) in fourth with a time of 2:09.12.

DiBetta picked up another victory in the 200 breast, finishing with a time of 2:16.43, while Ellsworth placed third (2:22.19) and Strine in fourth (2:23.26). McKee picked up the win in the 500 free, touching in with a time of 5:02.99, while Sallows finished second with a time of 5:09.47.

The 100 fly saw Claypoole place second with a time of 56.83, followed by Schrank in fourth with a time of 58.55. Then in the 200 IM, Ellsworth placed first, finishing the race with a time of 2:05.97.

In the final swim event of the event, the 200 free relay, the Ohio 'A' team of Szoke, Dunigan, Claypoole and Buroker placed first with a time of 1:34.12.

In diving, sophomore Astrid Pichardo (Guanajuato, Mexico) placed second in the 1-meter event, finishing with a score of 265.50. Senior Sophie Cooper (Milford, Ohio) placed third (246.45), while freshman Annie Haluch (Hudson, Ohio) finished fourth (241.88).

In the 3-meter event, Pichardo once again placed second, finishing with a score of 255.15. Freshman Camryn Quiggins (Franklin, Ind.) finished third (221.85), while sophomore Stephanie Balthaser (Delaware, Ohio ) placed fourth (219.83).

Up next, the Bobcats are back in Athens for their final dual meet of the season and Senior Day, Jan. 31-Feb. 1 when they take on Eastern Michigan in a two-day event. Friday's events are set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Ohio University Aquatics Center, with Saturday set to begin at 11 a.m. Senior Day festivities are set to begin prior to Saturday's events, with both days set to air on ESPN+.
