ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women's basketball team (3-12, 1-4 MAC) fell to Bowling Green (8-8, 2-3 MAC) 74-53 on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
Sophomore
Bailey Tabeling (Seymour, Ind.) was the top scorer of the game with 27 points; shooting 9-for-16 from the field, 5-for-8 from the arc and 3-for-3 from the line. Tabeling also recorded a team-high four steals. Graduate student
Aliah McWhorter (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished with nine points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Senior
Kennedi Watkins (Ballwin, Mo.) tallied a team-high three assists. McWhorter and freshman
Danni Scully (Park Ridge, Ill.) led the team with three rebounds each.
Bowling Green got off to a good start, scoring 24 points in the first quarter and limiting Ohio to 10 points. Ohio's offense performed better in the second quarter and cut the Falcons' lead to 10 points off a seven-point scoring run. Heading into the locker room, the Bobcats trailed the Falcons 36-26.
Bowling Green's offense slightly outperformed Ohio's in the third quarter, allowing the Falcons to maintain a 57-42 lead heading into the final quarter of the game.
The Bobcats were unable to catch up with the Falcons, only putting up 11 points in the fourth quarter. Ohio ultimately fell to Bowling Green, 74-53.
Ohio finished with 22 rebounds, seven assists and nine steals. Both teams scored 14 points off turnovers.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Toledo. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+.
