ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio soccer team (5-1-3, 0-0-2 MAC) returned to action on Sunday (Sept. 22), battling Mid-American Conference fow Northern Illinois (6-1-3, 0-0-2 MAC) to a 0-0 draw in DeKalb.
Northern Illinois outshot Ohio 7-5, with the Huskies putting seven shots on goal compared to the Bobcats' three.
Junior goalkeeper, Celeste Sloma (Columbus, Ohio), made seven crucial saves, while the team managed two corner kicks during the match.
Individually, Junior Norah Roush (Dublin, Ohio), freshman Iro Fakinou (Athens, Greece), and graduate student Aubrey Rea (Akron, Ohio) each recorded one shot on goal for the Bobcats.
The match opened with a competitive spirit as both teams exchanged possession and sought scoring opportunities. In the 38th minute, Roush took a shot that was saved by Huskies goalkeeper Ary Purifoy, leaving the score at 0-0 at halftime.
At the break, Northern Illinois had outshot Ohio 3-2, with the Bobcats managing one shot on goal.
In the second half, both teams continued their aggressive play, aiming to maintain offensive pressure. Ohio had two additional shots on goal from Fakinou and Rea, but both were blocked by Purifoy. The match concluded with the scoreboard remaining untouched at 0-0.
The Bobcats will return to action on Thursday, September 26, as they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio, to take on the Bowling Green Falcons. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. and the game can be seen on BCSN and ESPN+.
