
Three Bobcats Earn Podium Finishes to Lead Ohio Track & Field on Day One of MAC Outdoor Championships

DEKALB, Ill. – Junior Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) led the Ohio women's track and field team as she claimed a bronze medal in the women's 10,000 meters with a time of 34:55.09 on the first day of competition at the MAC Outdoor Championships.

Harris was joined on the podium by sophomores Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio) and Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio), who both competed in their first 10,000m of their collegiate careers. Both athletes scored points for Ohio as Boussedra placed fourth with a time of 34:56.77 and Mason placed eighth with a time of 35:12.16. Junior Theresa Hagey (Akron, Ohio) also raced in the event and finished 19th overall with a time of 37:35.04.

Freshman Saydee Resnik (Greensburg, Pa.) qualified for the finals of the women's javelin. Resnik placed ninth overall with a mark of 35.13 meters (115-3) with senior Kassidy Betzing (Pomeroy, Ohio) finishing right behind her in 10th place with a mark of 33.47 meters (109-9).

Senior Jordan Baith (Seville, Ohio) threw a new personal-best mark of 46.92 meters (153-11) in the hammer throw to place 10th overall in the event. Junior Jasmine Correa (Holland, Mich.) finished in 18th with a mark of 38.69 meters (126-11).

Sophomores Allie Martin (Kingwood, W. Va.) and Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) raced in the women's 1500m preliminaries. Martin (4:34.47) finished 13th and Doughman (4:37.75) finished in 16th place.

Junior Taja Booker (Simpsonville, S.C.) competed in the women's 200m preliminaries and finished in 18th place with a time of 24.66.

Freshman Gracie Smith (Grove City, Ohio) finished her first day of the heptathlon in 10th place with 2469 points. Smith ran a personal-best time of 27.29 in the 200m.

Ohio currently sits at fifth in the team rankings with 12 points.

The Bobcats will continue competition at the MAC Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 10, starting with the heptathlon at 12:30 p.m. ET/11:30 am CT.
