ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (13-25, 8-15 MAC) fell 16-2 to Toledo (20-23, 13-10 MAC) on Saturday, April 27.
Freshman
JR Nelson (Vernon Hills, Ill.) and redshirt junior
AJ Rausch (Powell, Ohio) both scored one run and recorded one hit for the Bobcats. Junior
Jackson Cauthron (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) finished two-for-three at the plate.
Graduate student
Tim Knapschaefer (Maria Stein, Ohio) started on the mound for Ohio and pitched 3.2 innings. He faced 24 batters and recorded one strikeout. Ohio cycled through four more pitchers throughout the rest of the game. Junior
Adam Beery (Ravenna, Ohio) relieved Knapschaefer; he pitched 2.1 innings, allowed three hits, two runs and faced 12 batters. Freshman
Ethan Stewart (Langsville, Ohio) closed out the game for the Bobcats. Stewart allowed one hit, recorded one strikeout and faced four batters in one inning pitched.
Toledo scored two runs early on and led Ohio 2-1 after the first inning. The Bobcats tied the game at 2-2 in the second inning.
The Rockets' offense unleashed on Ohio with four runs in the fourth and seven runs in the eighth innings, preventing the Bobcats from having a chance to catch up. Toledo ultimately won the game, 16-2.
