CLEVELAND— The Ohio football team released its 2024 regular season schedule today (March 5) in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference office.
The Bobcats' 12-game slate features six home games at Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium, including four Saturdays. Notably, they will face off against Miami (Ohio) for the 100
th Battle of the Bricks at Yager Stadium on Oct. 19
Television platforms, along with game times, will be announced at a later date.
2024 OHIO FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Saturday, Aug. 31: at Syracuse (JMA Wireless Dome)
Notable: The Orange and the Bobcats have met three times since 1916. The teams last met when they opened the 2021 season in Athens; Ohio fell, 29-9. Syracuse finished the 2023 season 6-7 overall and 2-6 against ACC opponents.
Saturday, Sept. 7: vs. South Alabama (Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium)
Notable: This matchup marks the first time South Alabama and Ohio will play each other. The Jaguars recorded a 7-6 record in 2023, finishing 4-4 against SBC opponents. They wrapped up their season with a 59-10 victory over Eastern Michigan at the 68 Ventures Bowl.
Saturday, Sept. 14: vs. Morgan State (Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium)
Notable: This matchup marks the first time Morgan State and Ohio will play each other. The Bears finished the 2023 season 4-6 overall and 3-2 against MEAC opponents.
Saturday, Sept. 21: at Kentucky (Kroger Field)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Wildcats have met five times since 1971 and currently have a 2-3 record. When the teams last faced off in 2014, Ohio fell 20-3, scoring off a 44-yard field goal. Kentucky finished the 2023 season 7-6 overall and 3-5 against SEC opponents.
Saturday, Sept. 28: vs. Akron (Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Zips have met 40 times since 1919, posting a 25-14-1 record. Akron and Ohio last met to close the 2023 regular season; after heading into the half trailing, the Bobcats surged ahead to claim a 25-14 win. The Zips finished the 2023 season 2-10 overall, going 1-7 against MAC opponents.
Saturday, Oct. 12: at Central Michigan (Kelly/Shorts Stadium)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Chippewas have met 35 times since 1972 with a series record of 6-26-2. Ohio hosted Central Michigan in Nov. 2023; the Bobcats' 34-20 victory marked the first time since 2011 they defeated the Chippewas and the first time they won this matchup at home since 2000. Central Michigan finished the 2023 season 5-7 overall and 3-5 against MAC opponents.
Saturday, Oct. 19: at Miami (Ohio) (Yager Stadium)
Notable: The RedHawks and the Bobcats have met 99 times since 1908, posting a series record of 42-55-2. The last time the two met, Miami (Ohio) came out on top, 30-16. The RedHawks finished the 2023 season 11-3 overall and 7-1 against MAC opponents. After winning the MAC East Division, they defeated Toledo to take home their first MAC Championship since 2019. The RedHawks closed their season with a 13-9 loss to App State at the Cure Bowl.
Saturday, Oct. 26.: vs. Buffalo (Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Bulls have met 29 times since 1949 and have a series record of 18-11. The two teams last met in Buffalo, opening "midweek MACtion" with a 20-10 Ohio victory. Buffalo finished the 2023 season 3-9 overall, posting a 3-5 record against MAC opponents.
Wednesday, Nov. 6: at Kent State (Dix Stadium)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Golden Flashes have met 75 times since 1936 and currently have a series record of 45-28-2. The two teams last met in Athens for Ohio's Homecoming game, where the Bobcats won in dominating fashion, 42-17. Kent State finished the 2023 season 1-11, going 0-8 against MAC opponents.
Wednesday, Nov. 13: vs. Eastern Michigan (Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Eagles have met 33 times since 1976, posting a series record of 20-12-1. The two teams last met in 2021; Ohio claimed the lead in the first quarter and maintained it the entire game to take home a 34-26 victory. Eastern Michigan finished the 2023 season 6-7 overall and 4-4 in MAC play. They ended their season in Mobile, Ala. at the 68 Ventures Bowl, where they fell to South Alabama.
Wednesday, Nov. 20: at Toldeo (Glass Bowl Stadium)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Rockets have met 55 times since 1925, posting a series record of 21-33-1. The two teams last met at the 2022 MAC Championship in Detroit, where Ohio fell, 17-7. Toledo finished the 2023 season 11-3 overall and 8-0 against MAC opponents, falling 23-17 to Miami in the MAC Championship and dropping a tight matchup at the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl against Wyoming.
Friday, Nov. 29: vs. Ball State (Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Cardinals have met 27 times since 1975, posting a 12-15 record. The two teams last met in 2022 when Ohio won their sixth of seven consecutive games enroute to their first 10-win season since 2011. Ball State finished the 2023 season 4-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
After the Bobcats' 41-21 victory over Georgia Southern in the 2023 Myrtle Beach Bowl, Ohio recorded their second consecutive 10-win season, which is a program first. This bowl win also marked the Bobcats' fifth bowl win in a row, tying the conference record for consecutive bowl wins.
The 2023 squad finished the regular season with a 9-3 record, marking the first time Ohio football finished consecutive regular seasons with nine wins. Notably, Ohio defeated Iowa State 10-7 at home (Sept. 16) to mark its first Power Five win since 2017 during a five-game winning streak.
