ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio men's basketball team has added graduate student center Vic Searls to the roster for the 2024-25 season, head coach
Jeff Boals announced today (March 27)
"We are excited to add Vic to our men's basketball family," Boals said. "He had an outstanding four-year career at Ashland. He was well coached and was an important contributor to Ashland's success. Vic adds experience to our program and a winning mentality."
Searls, a 6-9 center from Hilliard, Ohio, comes to the Bobcats as a transfer after four seasons at Ashland. In his four seasons at Ashland, Searls played in 70 games, while making 51 stats. He scored 710 points, while averaging 10.1 points a game and 4.6 rebounds, while shooting a career .661 from the field, .345 from three and .736 from the line. Sears is also a two-time All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference Second Team selection.
Last season, Searls played in 20 games, while making 19 starts for Ashland. He was third on the Eagle in scoring with 15.4 points a game, while snagging 7.5 rebounds. He shot 68 percent from the field, 45.4 percent from three and 71.4 percent from the line, while recording 10 blocks and 12 steals. He tied a career-high 24 points against Villa Maria on Dec. 19 and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds at Trevecca Nazarene on Jan. 4. After the season, Searls earned a spot on the. All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference Second Team
In the 2022-23 season, Searls played and started all 32 games for the Eagles, averaging 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds a game. He shot .641 from the field, .278 from three and .773 from the line, while recording 16 blocks and 16 steals and earned All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference honors after the season.
Searls is the son of Jerry and Julie Searls and played high school at St. Charles.
