Indiana State took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring two runs on four hits and capitalizing on tow Ohio errors to take the 2-1 lead. Indiana State added on in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two more runs on four hits, taking a 4-1 lead entering the top of the sixth inning.

After O'Brien reached first on a single, she then scored on an RBI triple from Hoffner, cutting the deficit to three runs. However, the Ohio offense would be unable to generate any more runs, falling by the final of 5-2.
