BUIES CREEK, N.C.— The Ohio baseball team (2-4) fell in their third contest against Campbell (6-1) this Sunday (Feb. 25) by a score of 7-8.
Individually, five Bobcat hitters notched two hits, with redshirt junior
AJ Rausch (Powell, Ohio) leading the pack with two home runs, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Junior
Jackson Cauthron (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) also had a homerun and two hits in five plate appearances, bringing in two RBIs and a run of his own.
On the mound, junior
Blake Gaskey (Davenport, Iowa) started the game and completed five full innings, striking out four batters and allowing five runs. Freshman
Jack Geiser (Medina, Ohio) followed Gaskey and threw three complete innings. Junior
Zach Weber (Lebanon, Ohio) finished the game and was tagged with the loss (1-1 for the season).
The Bobcats would fall behind four runs within the first three innings, but would fight back soon after. Freshman
Pauly Mancino (Westlake, Ohio) brought in a run on a fielder's choice in the top of the first to cut into the Campbell lead. Rausch then hit the first of his two homeruns to bring himself and Mancino home, bringing the score within one.
Campbell would hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth, but the Bobcats would tie the game at five on Rausch's second home run of the game, bringing Mancino around home a second time.
All squared, Campbell would score to put themselves up one. But, Cauthron would send a shot to right field over the wall in the bottom of the 7th, bringing the Bobcats their first lead over the Camels all weekend at 7-6.
The Camels were able to sacrifice bunt a run home in the bottom of the 7
th to tie the game. The Bobcat bats did not get hot in the last two innings, and Campbell was able to walk the game off in the bottom of the 9
th, ending the game 7-8 and sweeping the series.

The Bobcats will play their home opener at Bob Wren Stadium this Friday (Mar. 1) against UIC. First pitch is set for 3 PM ET. The Bobcats are 4-0 all-time against Flames, last winning in a 5-1 contest on the road in 2022. The Bobcats will look to bounce back this weekend at Bob Wren Stadium.
