
Ohio Wrestling Dominates Wisconsin in Season Opener, 25-14

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Ohio wrestling team (1-0) opened the 2024-25 season Friday evening (Nov. 1) at the Wisconsin Wrestling Showcase hosted by UW La Crosse. The Bobcats defeated Big Ten opponent Wisconsin (0-1), 25-14.
Redshirt freshman Kaden Jett (Broadview Heights, Ohio) and redshirt junior Peyten Kellar (Cutler, Ohio) both secured hard-fought overtime victories. Jett claimed a 5-2 decision at 141 pounds, while Kellar followed with a close 8-7 decision at 157 pounds.
The Bobcats were neck and neck with the Badgers until redshirt sophomore Austin Starr (Indian Creek, Ohio) delivered a commanding 15-1 major decision at 197 pounds, putting Ohio in the lead. Redshirt senior Jordan Greer (Avon, Ohio) then sealed the team's victory with a 13-4 major decision over Wisconsin's Gannon Rosenfeld at 285 pounds.
Ohio is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the 2024 Michigan State Open in East Lansing, Mich. The open is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.Â
