ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (6-9, 2-2 MAC) fell 3-1 (25-7, 16-25, 17-25, 23-25) to Toledo (10-7, 3-2 MAC) on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Sophomore
Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) led Ohio with a team-high 17 kills and 19 points. Hunt also tallied two aces and four digs. Graduate student
Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) recorded 10 kills, 11.0 points and a team-high .471 hitting percentage. Junior
Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) contributed eight kills and 8.5 points. Freshman
Bryn Janke (Westfield, Wis.) tallied a team-high 19 assists.
Sophomore
Kendall Hickey (Fishers, Ind.) had a team-high 16 digs. Freshman
Darbi Ricketts (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded 10 digs in addition to 6.0 points.
The Bobcats came out in the first set with determination, dominating the set 25-7. A 15 point scoring run by the Bobcats was crucial in securing the win.
Toledo tied the match at 1-1 with a 25-16 win in the second set. The Rockets went on to win the third set, 25-17. Toledo took the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth and final set.
The Bobcats will be back in action at Western Michigan on Thursday, Oct. 10. The match is set to start at 6 p.m. ET.
