
Brust and Pichardo Sweep MAC Swim and Dive Weekly Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Ohio swimming and diving team swept this week's Mid-American Conference weekly awards, the league announced today (Jan. 10). Senior Gabrielle Brust was named the MAC Swimmer of the Week, while Astrid Pichardo was named the MAC Diver of the Week for their performances against Marshall last week.
Brust (Granville, Ohio) helped lead the Bobcats to a 183.5-116.5 victory over Marshall on Friday night. Overall, Brust earned three victories, one relay and two individual, to help lead the Bobcats. In the 200-yard medley relay, the Bobcats' squad finished first with a time of 1:44.33. Then in the 200 fly, Brust placed first with a time of 2:03.26, before wrapping up her night with a victory in the 100 fly, touching in with a time of 55.71
Pichardo (Guanajuato, Mexico) helped lead the Ohio swim and dive team to a 183.5-116.5 victory Friday night. Pichardo led the divers, finishing second in the 3M event with a score of 264.53, before concluding her night with a second-place finish in the 1M event, recording a score of 243.75.
Up next, the divers head to Buffalo, N.Y. Jan. 12-14 for the 2024 Buffalo Diving Invite. The Ohio swimmers are back in action Jan. 20 when they also head to Buffalo for a matchup with the Bulls. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.
