Ohio Wrestling Releases 2023-24 Schedule

ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio Wrestling has released its schedule for the 2023-24 season head coach Joel Greenlee announced today (Sept. 6). The schedule is highlighted by seven Mid-American Conference matchups, three of which will be at home. All times listed are eastern time. 

The Bobcats will start the season in Salem, Virginia as they take part in the Southeast Open on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. Ohio will get back to the action a week later, Saturday, Nov. 11, hosting a tri-meet with UT-Chattanooga and Ashland. The meet will be held at the Convocation Center, starting at 1 p.m. 

The Bobcats will head back on the road to McDonough High School in Owings Mills, Maryland, for the Navy Classic. The tournament will take place on Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. Ohio wrestling will then head across the country to Las Vegas, Nevada to join the Cliff Keen Invitational. The invitational will start on Friday, Dec. 1st at 12 p.m. 

Next, Ohio will head to Jefferson Morgan High School in Jefferson, Pennsylvania to square off against Navy. The competition, which will be held on Dec. 10, will begin at 2 p.m. Following the matchup with Navy, the Bobcats will host Drexel at Warren Local High School in Vincent, Ohio. The meet will take place on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. The next stop for Ohio will be in Boiling Springs, North Carolina for a meet against Gardner-Webb. The Runnin' Bulldogs will host Ohio for a 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21. 

The final two meets for the Bobcats before the conference season begins are the Ken Kraft Midlands Championship and a trip up to East Lansing, Michigan to take on Michigan State. The Midlands Championship, hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois will start at 10 a.m. on Dec. 30, marking the Bobcats' final match of the calendar year. One week later, on Jan. 6th, Ohio will face off with the Spartans for a meet starting at 6 p.m. 

The Bobcats will open up Mid-American Conference play with a trip up to DeKalb, Illinois to take on Northern Illinois. The meet against the Huskies will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12. Ohio will then return home to the Convocation Center to host George Mason. The Patriots will head to Athens for the Friday, Jan. 19th meet at 7 p.m. 

Following George Mason's visit, the Bobcats will hit the road for three consecutive matchups. The first, a trip up the road to Cleveland State on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.  , the Bobcats will head to Central Michigan for a meet on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. To round out the road trip, Ohio will face off with Kent State. The meet will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9. 

Following the Bobcats' road trip, the team will host two consecutive events to finish the regular season. SIUE will come to town first for a Saturday, Feb. 17 meet starting at 7 p.m. Next, Buffalo will come to Athens for a meet held on Saturday, Feb. 24. It will be held at the Convocation Center, starting at 7 p.m. 

Two weeks later, the Bobcats will head up to Kent, Ohio to participate in the Mid-American Conference Championships. The meet will take place from Friday, March 8 to March 9 with a start time still to be determined. 

Lastly, the Bobcats will look to follow up strong representation at the NCAA Championships from a year ago. Ohio, who sent four wrestlers to Tulsa, Okla. for the championships last year, will seek bring more to Kansas City, Missouri this year. The NCAA Championships will start on Thursday, March 21 and wrap up on the 23rd.
