BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ohio volleyball team (8-9, 3-2 MAC) fell to the Buffalo (13-3, 3-1 MAC) 3-1 (26-28, 25-18, 15-25, 14-25) in the second match of its conference series on Saturday.
Buffalo took the first set in a 28-26 decision. Despite the loss, Ohio challenged the Bulls offensively. After being down three points near the end of the set, the Bobcats went on a 3-0 run with kills from sophomore
Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine), graduate student
Caitlin O'Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.) and an ace from senior
Sam Steele (Omaha, Nebraska).
Ohio answered back with a dominating performance in the second set. Leading for most of the set, the Bobcats evened the match score to 1-1 and earning a 25-18 win.
Buffalo went on to win the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-14.
Junior
Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) led Ohio's offense with 17 kills, 17 points and a .308 hitting percentage. O'Farrell and Kharchynska recorded 15 kills and 16 or more points each. Senior
Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) contributed 43 assists and 13 digs.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 5 at home with a conference matchup against Northern Illinois at 7 p.m.
