AMES, Iowa – The Ohio volleyball team (5-7, 0-0 MAC) concluded the Cyclone Invitational with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 13-25, 19-25) loss to UCSB (10-2, 0-0 Big West) on Saturday.
UCSB gained an early 1-0 advantage with a 25-22 win in the first set.
Ohio answered back by defeating the Gauchos, 25-21 in the second and tied the match at 1-1. In the beginning of the set, Ohio trailed USCB. After some back-and-forth, the Bobcats were able to gain a 20-18 lead on a 3-0 scoring run. Junior

Chariti Winzeler (Toledo, Ohio) ultimately won the set for Ohio.
USCB won the third and fourth sets, 25-13 and 25-19.
The Bobcats were led by sophomore
Anna Kharchynska's (Kyiv, Ukraine) 18 kills, four digs and 20.5 points. Other standouts for Ohio were Clippard, who recorded 12 kills and points, and Winzeler, who tallied 26 assists.
The Bobcats return home on Friday, Sept. 22 as they prepare to host Akron for their first conference series of the season.
