ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (13-16, 11-4 MAC) fell to the Marshall Herd (14-16, 4-8 SBC), 8-6.

Individually, fifth years Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Will Sturek (Minnetonka, Minn.) led the Bobcats, both scoring once and recording two RBIs. Junior Alec Patino (Sioux City, Iowa) and redshirt sophomore Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa) also recorded an RBI each. On the mound, sophomore Tyler Peck (Oak Creek, Wis.) threw for 3.2 innings with two strikeouts while sophomores Dillon Masters (New Albany, Ohio) and Zach Weber (Lebanon, Ohio) closed the game, throwing for a combined three scoreless innings.

The Herd gained an early lead in the second inning scoring seven runs. The Bobcats responded in the third inning. Patino got the ball rolling with a double to left center field with two outs, scoring the next at bat off a single from Minzey. Sturek followed with a two-run home run, cutting the deficit 7-3.

Ohio opened the fourth inning with back-to-back singles from senior Alex Finney (Oxford, Mich.) and redshirt sophomore Harrison Johnson (Mason, Ohio). Finney took advantage of a sacrifice fly from Dolan, scoring the Bobcats' fourth run of the game. Ohio's momentum continued with an RBI double from Patino and a ground out, putting the score 7-6 heading into the fifth inning.

Marshall extended their lead again in the sixth, scoring one run off of two hits. Unable to score again, the Bobcats fell to Marshall, 8-6.
