
Ohio Wrestling Takes Down Chattanooga and Ashland

ATHENS, Ohio—The Ohio wrestling team won both their duals in the tri-meet at the Convocation Center today (Nov. 11). The Bobcats opened with a comeback 23-19 victory over Chattanooga before defeating Ashland, 39-7.Â

Redshirt sophomore Peyten Kellar (Cutler, Ohio) took home the first victory of the day for the Bobcats, defeating his UTC opponent by a 16-10 decision at 157 pounds. Redshirt sophomore Garrett Thompson (Murrysville, Pa.) followed at 165 pounds with a tight 4-3 decision to score three more points for Ohio.Â

At 184 pounds, junior Zayne Lehman's (Akron, Ohio) shutout technical fall at 184 pounds got the ball rolling, with sophomore Austin Starr (Indian Creek, Ohio) taking the 197 bout with a fall, cutting the Mocs' lead to two points. Senior Jordan Greer (Avon, Ohio) closed the match with a pin at 285 pounds, securing Ohio's 23-19 victory.Â

Sophomore Paul Woo (Wheaton, Ill.) made quick work of his Ashland opponent, winning by fall at 133. Junior Aidan Waszak (Wheaton, Ill.) followed with a 5-1 decision at 141 while sophomore Derek Raike (Point Pleasant, W.Va.) and Thompson recorded technical falls at 149 and 165 pounds, respectively. Junior Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) continued Ohio's dominant performance at 174 pounds, taking home a 13-3 major decision.

Back-to-back technical falls from Lehman and Starr extended Ohio's lead over the Eagles to 26 points before Greer ended the dual in a minute with his second pin of the day, securing Ohio's 39-7 victory over Ashland.Â
