MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ohio volleyball team (13-12, 8-5 MAC) concluded its weekend with a 3-1 loss (22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 18-25) to Ball State (14-10, 11-2 MAC) on Saturday.
Junior
Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore
Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) led Ohio's attack with 15 kills and 16.5 points apiece. Kharchynska recorded .433 and Clippard recorded .306 hitting percentages.
Freshman
Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) was another top performer for the Bobcats and tallied her second double-double of the weekend. Hunt amassed 14 kills, two aces, 13 digs and 16 points.
Senior
Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) and sophomore
Chariti Winzeler (Toledo, Ohio) totaled 29 and 19 assists, respectively. Senior
Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) also added five assists and 18 digs.
The team tallied 12 blocks total with graduate student
Caitlin O'Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.), senior
Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) and Kharchynska recorded three blocks each.
Ball State gained an early 1-0 advantage after winning the first set, 25-22.
Ohio evened the match score to 1-1, defeating the Cardinals 25-22 in the second set. As a team, the Bobcats outhit Ball State 17-14 with two less attack errors. Ohio led for majority of the set, maintaining at least a two-point lead over Ball State.
Ball State took the next two sets in 25-19 and 25-18 decisions, winning the match 3-1 over Ohio.
The Bobcats will be back in action at home on Friday, Nov. 3 against Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. ET.
