ATHENS, Ohio— After a successful practice on the new turf, Wide Receivers Coach Dwayne Dixon feels confident that this group of student-athletes has what it takes.Â
On transfer Jacoby JonesÂ
"He brings strength and toughness [to the program]. He gets the ball down the field quickly and competes for the ball. He's very strong and athletic. I really feel fortunate to have a guy like him who's going to bring some energy to the group—I think he already has."Â
On personal improvement
"We've got a number of guys who are improving. I think Miles Cross has really stepped up his game, playing with confidence and using his strength and athleticism to make plays.
Â
James Bostic really has really come on as a big, strong, 220-pound guy who can run when the ball is in his hand. He's more like a running back and I feel like he can make some things happen. Sam Wiglusz is a guy from Ohio State; he has really shown that he can understand and learn quickly. He adjusts things and contracts the ball very well. He understands schemes and how to get open, so I think he will be an asset.
Â
Keegan Wilburn has come on a little bit; he's a former running back from Nelsonville. He's one of those guys that is hungry to play. Nigel Drummond II can play in multiple positions for us and help us in any way we need.Â
Â
We also have a guy named Caleb Gossett who is really showing that he's willing to do whatever it takes. He's learning the system very well and making plays."Â
Â
On QB Kurtis RourkeÂ
"He loves to run the ball and loves to put the ball in the receiver's hands and getting it to the running backs to make plays. He's smart about reading defenses; if it's a rare situation, he can make people miss. He's very adept at knowing how to get the ball to our guys in the right position for them to make plays."Â
