MAC Announces 2022 Football Media Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND – The 2022 Ohio football team has been selected to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference East Division in the 2022 MAC Football Media Preseason Poll, the league announced today (July 26). The poll was determined by 24 of the league's media members. 
 
In the East Division, Miami was selected first with 139 points. Following the RedHawks, Kent State finished second with 116 points, while Buffalo came in third with 78 points. The Bobcats finished fourth with 72 points, followed by Bowling Green and Akron. 
 
In the West Division, Northern Illinois took first with 122 points, followed by Toledo with 120 points and Central Michigan in third with 112 points. Western Michigan ranked fourth with 56 points, followed by Eastern Michigan and Ball State. 
 
Northern Illinois was selected to win the MAC Championship with nine votes, followed by Toledo (6), Miami (5) and Central Michigan (4). 
 
The Bobcats enter the 2022 season with second-year head coach Tim Albin. Ohio finished the 2021 season 3-9 overall. They registered three wins against MAC opponents, highlighted by their Battle of the Bricks victory at Peden against Miami (35-33) on Nov. 2. On the road, they defeated Akron (34-17) on Oct. 2 and Eastern Michigan (34-26) on Nov. 9.
