MUNCIE, Ind.—The Ohio baseball team (24-20, 16-16 MAC) dropped their first game against Ball State (33-15, 27-5 MAC), 11-5.
Individually, redshirt senior
Michael Richardson (Cambridge, Md.) went 2-for-4 while redshirt senior
Spencer Harbert (Middletown, Del.) went 1-for-4 with a home run.
Ball State struck first, scoring two runs off a single in the second inning. Fifth year
Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) answered the next inning, driving in Richardson with a single to right field. A Ball State home run in the bottom of the inning left the Bobcats trailing, 3-1.
Ball State continued to build on their lead, scoring five runs during the next three innings off two singles, a double and a home run. The Bobcats went to work in the seventh, cutting Ball State's lead to 8-5. Harbert kicked off inning with a solo home run. A bases loaded walk followed by a wild pitch drove in two addition runs and a groundout by redshirt freshman
AJ Rausch (Powell, Ohio) that scored redshirt junior
Xavier Haendiges (Salem, Ind.) left Ohio trailing by three.
The Cardinals tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, putting the final score at 11-5.
UP NEXT
The Bobcats return to action tomorrow (May 14) for a doubleheader against Ball State. The first pitch is set for 12 p.m.
