LEXINGTON, Ky.— The Ohio baseball team's (5-5) offense was strong in their midweek game against Kentucky (11-3), defeating the Wildcats 9-8.

Individually, fifth year Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) led the team, going 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. Senior Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and senior Colin Kasperbauer (Sioux City, Iowa) registered three RBIs apiece. On the mound, senior starting pitcher Brenden Roder (Sioux City, Iowa) went four innings, striking out four and giving up one run.

The Bobcats went to work immediately, scoring in the top of the first. Kasperbauer doubled, driving in Minzey and Peterson for the first two runs of the game. Later that inning, Kasperbauer scored on a wild pitch, giving the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.

In the second inning, Minzey crushed a three-RBI double to right-center field, putting the score at 6-0. After Minzey advanced on wild pitch, he scored the Bobcats' seventh run off a Kasperbauer single. Kentucky struck in the fourth inning, scoring their first run off an Ohio error. The next inning, a Wildcat home run drove in an additional run. Graduate student Cael Baker (Gahana, Ohio) scored off a single to center field in the top of the sixth, putting Ohio ahead 8-2.

The Wildcats had a big seventh inning, scoring four runs of two singles and a double. They tied the game in the eighth inning, scoring off a groundout and a wild pitch. Redshirt freshman AJ Rausch (Powell, Ohio) singled to right field in the ninth inning, driving in the game-winning run. Senior Colin Sells (Lancaster, Ohio) drew two ground outs and a fly out in the bottom of the inning, securing the Bobcats' 9-8 victory.
