ATHENS, Ohio— The Ohio football program is represented by three student-athletes on the 2022 College Football News Freshman All-American Team, as announced today (Dec. 6). Redshirt freshman cornerback

Nathanial Vakos both earned CFN Freshman All-American Team Third Team honors while redshirt freshman running back
Sieh Bangura earned CFN Freshman All-American Team honorable mention.
Cox, Jr. (Miami Gardens, Fla.) has started in 12 games, recording 50 total tackles. He is second on the team in interceptions (2), both of which he snagged in the Bobcats' 33-14 victory over Western Michigan (Oct. 15). Cox, Jr. also has three tackles for loss, six pass breakups, one quarterback hurry, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
Vakos (Avon, Ohio) is having a strong freshman year for the Bobcats, kicking in all 13 games. He went 19-for 23 on field goals and 48-for-49 on PATs, scoring a total of 104 points. Against Western Michigan (Oct. 15), his 55-yard field goal marked a personal record as well as tied him for the third-longest field goal in program history. Vakos earned All-MAC Second Team Offense honors as a placekicker and was named MAC Special Teams Player of the Week twice.
Bangura (Bowie, Md.) is leading the Bobcats on the ground with 12 touchdowns in 197 attempts and 940 rushing yards. Against Akron (Oct. 8), the redshirt freshman scored four touchdowns, three of which were rushing. In the air, Bangura has scored two touchdowns on 208 yards. He was named MAC Freshman of the Year, earned All-MAC Third Team honors and was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks after his performances against Akron and Western Michigan (Oct. 15).
