Ohio Wrestling Defeats Gardner-Webb, 23-15

ATHENS, Ohio— The Ohio wrestling team hosted their first home dual of the 2022-23 season today (Dec. 19), defeating Gardner-Webb, 23-15.

Just 53 seconds into the 149-pound dual, graduate student Alec Hagan (Eureka, Mo.) pinned his opponent for Ohio's first victory of the night. Next, redshirt freshman Peyten Kellar (Cutler, Ohio) was dominant at 157 pounds, securing a technical fall.

At 174 pounds, sophomore Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) followed with the Bobcats' first decision of the match, defeating his opponent 9-3. Ohio took the lead after sophomore Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio) fought for a 3-1 decision at 184 pounds.

Redshirt junior Carson Brewer (Avon, Ind.) extended Ohio's lead with a 9-7 decision at 197 pounds, followed by a 4-1 decision for junior Jacob Padilla (Huber Heights, Ohio) at 285 pounds.

Up next, the Bobcats travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers on Jan. 6.
