TOLEDO, Ohio -- The Ohio volleyball team (17-9, 11-4 MAC) swept Toledo (16-10, 9-6 MAC) (25-17, 25-18, 24-15) on Saturday (Nov. 5), splitting the weekend inside John F. Savage Arena.
The Bobcats redeemed themselves, hitting .313 to Toledo's mere .096. Ohio excelled in all aspects of the game, recording 41 kills, three aces, four blocks, 40 assists, and 56 digs.
After trading the first three points, Ohio went on a 3-0 run, putting itself up 6-3 over Toledo. The Bobcats continued extending their lead, going on multiple streaks to give them an eight-point advantage. Ohio ultimately took set one 25-17.
The Bobcats carried their momentum into set two, starting off the set 3-0. A four-point run put Ohio up six and a 14-7 lead forced the Rockets to use its second time out. The Bobcats never let up, winning the set 25-18.
Despite Toledo jumping out to a 4-1 lead, the third set fell in Ohio's favor. The Bobcats went on a 12-1 run, securing a 13-5 advantage. Ohio was the first to reach 20, holding a 10-point lead over the Rockets. The Bobcats were able to maintain the deficit, securing set three 25-15.
Senior middle blocker Caitlin O'Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.) led the match offensively, tallying 11 kills and only one error for a .588 hitting percentage. O'Farrell was followed by outside hitters Olivia Margolies (Galena, Ohio), Kristy Frank (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio). Margolies reached nine while Frank and Clippard had seven kills.
Senior setter Parker Kwiatkowski (Grand Rapids, Mich.) led Ohio in assists with 20, nearing a double-double with nine digs and sneaking in a kill. Meanwhile, junior setter Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) recorded 11 assists.
Defensively, junior libero Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) collected 14 digs while Frank registered 10.
Up next, Ohio with return home to finish off the regular season, first taking on Ball State at 7 p.m. ET on Nov. 11.
