Ohio Men's Basketball Hosts UC-Clermont Wednesday Night

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio men's basketball team (3-3) is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 30 when they host UC-Clermont. Tip-off is set fro 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center. The Bobcats matchup will be seen on ESPN+ where Marty Bannister and Dave Cecutti will have the call. 

The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 15th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats" and will be joined by Ohio alum Rob Cornelius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station network's flagship.  

STORYLINES
• Ohio is coming off a 72-58 win against Alabama State on Nov. 27 in the final game of the Bobcat Battle. 
• This is the first all-time meeting for the Bobcats and UC-Clermont.
• UC-Clermont enters the matchup with a 3-3 record, however an 0-1 record against NCAA DI opponents. 
• UC-Clermont fell to Northern Kentucky, 89-49 on Nov. 12. 
Miles Brown earned Bobcat Battle MVP honors, while Ben Roderick was named to the all-tournament team. 
Miles Brown was named MAC Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 28. 
Miles Brown was stellar during the Bobcat Battle, averaging 16.0 points. 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game. He shot .688 from the field and was 8-of-11 (.727) from three, while making both free throws. 
• Freshman AJ Brown made his Ohio debut on Nov. 25 against Eastern Illinois. 
Dwight Wilson III was a monster Sunday at Michigan, scoring 21 points, grabbing nine rebounds and hitting the game-tying basket at the end of regulation to force overtime. 
• Ohio has registered an impressive 544-178 (.756) all-time record at the Convocation Center, which opened in 1968.
• Ohio finished last season 25-10, with its 25 wins the fourth-most in program history. 
• Ohio welcomes nine newcomers to the roster for the season, including transfers Jaylin Hunter, DeVon Baker and Gabe Wiznitzer.
• Ohio also adds six freshmen to this year's roster. 

SCOUTING UC-CLERMONT
UC-Clermont enters the matchup with a 3-3 record, however an 0-1 record against NCAA DI opponents. 

UC-Clermont fell to Northern Kentucky, 89-49 on Nov. 12. In that game, UC-Clermont was led by Gavin Rabe with 18 points. 

SCOUTING OHIO
Ohio enters the matchup with UC-Clermont with a 3-3 record after going 2-0 in the Bobcat Battle last weekend in Athens. 

As a team, Ohio is averaging 73.3 points and 38.7 rebounds a game, while opponents average 70.5 points and 33.5 rebounds a game. The Bobcats are also shooting .434 from the field, .359 from three and .734 from the line. Ohio also adds 13.7 assists, 6.2 steals and force 12.2 turnovers a game. 

Opponents are shooting .441 from the field, .361 from three and .663 from the line, while dishing out 11.8 assists, 6.7 steals and 12.2 turnovers a game. 

Individually, Miles Brown leads Ohio with 13.3 points a game, while shooting .500 from the field, .571 from three and .857 from the line. Dwight Wilson III adds 12.6 points and 10.4 rebounds a game and is shooting .519 from the field. Jaylin Hunter adds 9.8 points and 5.2 assists a game. 

ALL TIME VS. UC CLERMONT
This is the first all-time meeting between Ohio and Eastern Illinois. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Ohio men's basketball team swept the Bobcat Battle, defeating Alabama State, 72-58. 

As a team, the Bobcats shot 45.9 percent from the field, 32.3 from the three and were 6-of-9 from the line. They recorded 17 assists and five steals in comparison to the Hornets' six assists and eight steals and out-rebounded their opponent, 42-33. 

Senior guard Miles Brown (Rochester, N.Y.) led the team with 18 points, going 7-of-10 in field goals. Sophomore AJ Clayton (Roseville, Ohio), was a close second, scoring 13 points. Senior forward Ben Roderick (Powell, Ohio) had 11 points on the game, going 3-for-4 on free throws while junior center Gabe Wiznitzer (Walhalla, S.C.) set a career-high for rebounds with eight.

PROTECT THIS HOUSE
Ohio has registered an impressive 544-178 (.756) all-time record at the Convocation Center, which opened in 1968.

Last season Ohio finished 15-2 in the Convo. 

MAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Miles Brown was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week for his performance the week of Nov. 21, the league announced Nov. 28. 

Brown led Ohio this past weekend to two victories in the 2022 Bobcat Battle. Overall, Brown averaged 16.0 points. 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game. He shot .688 from the field and was 8-of-11 (.727) from three, while making both free throws. He was also named the Bobcat Battle Tournament MVP.

On Nov. 25 against Eastern Illinois, Brown scored 14 points, went 4-of-6 from the field, 4-of-4 from three, while setting a new career-high in threes made. He also grabbed three rebounds and has three steals in the 78-67 victory. Then on Nov. 27 against Alabama State, Brown was sensational, scoring 18 points, going 7-of-10 from the field, 4-of-7 from three and grabbing two rebounds and recording one block in the 72-58 win.

AJ BROWN MAKES HIS DEBUT
Freshman guard AJ Brown made his debut Nov. 25 against Eastern Illinois, hitting the first three he attempted. 

Brown had missed the start of the season due to an injury. 

CAREER DAY FOR GABE
Junior Gabe Wiznitzer made his first career start on Nov. 27 against Alabama State, scoring a career-high eight points and grabbing a career-high eight rebounds in the victory. 

HADAWAY FINDS A WAY
Freshman Aidan Hadaway had his best performance of his young season on Nov. 25 against Eastern Illinois, scoring 11 points, going 4-of-8 from the field, 1-of-2 from three and grabbed three rebounds in the win. 

UP NEXT
Up next, the Bobcats head to Huntington, W. Va. to take on Marshall on Saturday, Dec. 3. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. inside the Cam Henderson Center.
