Rourke Named in Davey O'Brien Quarterbacks Class of 2022

FORTH WORTH, Texas  Redshirt junior quarterback Kurtis Rourke (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) of the Ohio football team has been named to the Davey O'Brien Quarterbacks Class of 2022 , as announced by the Davey O'Brien Foundation today (11/1). 

The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award. Quarterbacks from all NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools are eligible.

Sixteen semifinalists for the award will be named on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Round two of fan voting will be open from Tuesday, Nov. 15 - Friday, Nov. 25 with three finalists being announced on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The final fan voting window is from Tuesday, Nov. 29 - Friday, Dec. 2. The winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 8. 

For the third straight year, voting will take place on our @DaveyOBrien Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts. The top five on each of the three social media platforms will receive bonus committee votes which will be added to the ballots cast by the National Selection Committee. 

To participate in the Fan Vote, fans must like the original post highlighting the quarterback on our official @DaveyOBrien social media channels. Each of the three rounds of the selection process (semifinalist, finalist and winner) will feature the Fan Vote, with vote totals reset prior to each round. 

Along with Dequan Finn (Toledo), Rourke is one of two Mid-American Conference quarterbacks in the 2022 class. So far this season, Rourke's performance has earned him two MAC East Offensive Player of the Week titles. In the air, he is 187-for-273 with 16 touchdowns. Rourke's also registered four rushing touchdowns on 189 yards. The two-time team captain has played in 22 games since 2019, starting in all eight games this season. Rourke also excels in the classroom; he was recognized as the MAC Student Athlete of the Week (Oct. 27, 2021) and earned Academic-All MAC status in 2021.
