Ohio Field Hockey Falls to Indiana on the Road

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –  The Ohio field hockey team (8-8) returned to action Sunday afternoon (Oct. 23) for its final regular season road contest, falling to Indiana (9-9), 3-0.Â

Overall, Indiana recorded 26 shots with 16 on goal, while Ohio recorded four shots with one on goal. Indiana also registered eight corners compared to the Bobcats' two.Â
Â
Individually, sophomore Bodhi Littlefield (Oakland, Maine) recorded one shot with one on goal. While junior Meela Kopp (Louisville, Ky.), freshman Mijntje Ligtenberg (The Hague, The Netherlands) and senior Lucy Davis (Kettering, Ohio) all registered attempts for the Bobcats.Â

In goal, junior Macy Lotze (Louisville, Ky.) played 30 minutes, allowing one goal and making three saves, while graduate students Nele Graner (Bonn, Germany) played the second half, registering 30 minutes and allowing two goals, while making nine saves.Â

The Bobcats opened the first quarter with most of the offensive momentum, registering the first few attempts of the game. However, Indiana was able to take over the offensive pressure in the latter half of the first quarter, capitalizing in the 13th minute off a corner, taking a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.Â

The second quarter saw very little action from either team, with both sides recording on shot each, sending the game to the half with Ohio trailing, 1-0.Â

At the half, Indiana outshot Ohio, 8-4, with five shots on goal compared to the Bobcats' one. Indiana also registered three corners to Ohio's two.Â

Indiana controlled the third quarter, keeping the Bobcats off the scoreboard, sending the game to the final quarter with Ohio still down 1-0. Indiana continued to push and added on in the 49th minute, putting the Hoosiers up 2-0 late in the game. Indiana would add one last goal in the 59th minute on a penalty stroke, securing the 3-0 win for the Hoosiers.Â

Up next, the Bobcats return to Athens on Friday, Oct. 28 for the regular season finale when they host Appalachian State in a pivotal Mid-American Conference matchup. First touch is set for 2 p.m. at Pruitt Field. Friday will also serve as Senior Day for the Bobcats.Â
