ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio field hockey team (7-7) returned to action Sunday afternoon, defeating Saint Francis (4-11), 2-0, at Pruitt Field.Â

Â
In goal, junior Macy Lotze (Louisville, Ky.) played all 60 minutes and did not allow a goal and made three saves.Â
"We talked about the the whole team coming up as a unit, not just sending a ball to the forwards and then watching them do their little magic," head coach Ali Johnstone said. "They were picking off intercepts that they were reading off the other team and understanding their movement and so we didn't change anything tactic wise. It was just we need to like collectively go. And then they did and it was great."
Â
The Bobcats struck immediately in the first quarter, scoring in the second minute when Dikotla gave Ohio the early 1-0 lead. The Bobcats continued to put pressure on St. Francis over the rest of the quarter, but the Ohio defense held strong, sending the game to the second with Ohio up 1-0. The second quarter saw the Ohio offense keep the SFU defense on its toes, however Ohio was unable to capitalize on its chances, going into the half with the 1-0 lead.Â
Â
At the half, Ohio led with eight shots compared to FSU's three. Both teams also registered two corners.Â
Â
The third and fourth quarters saw more of the same from the Ohio offense, however the SFU defense was able to keep the Bobcats out of the goal. The Bobcats finally added on in the 56th minute, when Littlefield scored with an assist from Ligtenberg to put Ohio up 2-0 and seal their second shutout of the weekend.
Â
Up next, the Bobcats head to Louisville, Ky. on Friday, Oct. 21 to take on Bellarmine. First touch is set for 1 p.m.Â
