Ohio Field Hockey Drops Battle Against UC Davis

ATHENS, Ohio
 – The Ohio field hockey team (1-4) returned to action on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 8), falling to UC Davis (2-2), 2-1, at Pruitt Field. 
 
The Bobcats struck first in the fourth minute with junior Katelyn Whittle (Glenwood, Md.) scoring on an assist from freshman Bodhi Littlefield (Oakland, Maine). 
 
The Ohio defense held strong through the rest of the first half and through the third quarter, until UC Davis knotted the game up at 1-1 in 44th minute off a penalty corner. The Aggies took the lead in the 52nd minute, helping secure UC Davis' 2-1 victory. 
 
The Aggies outshot Ohio, 11-8, while both teams registered three penalty corners. 
 
Whittle led Ohio with a goal and two shots on goal. Meanwhile graduate student Jillian Shive (Lebanon, Ohio), Bodhi Littlefield, senior Ashley Willbur (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Tasmin Williams (Surrey, United Kingdom) all recorded one shot, while graduate student Leah Warren (Hamilton, New Zealand) recorded two attempts. 
 
In net, sophomore Macy Lotze (Louisville, Ky.) got the start, allowing two goals while making five saves. 
 
Ohio heads to Iowa City, Iowa this weekend for two matches. The Bobcats take on Iowa at 4 p.m. ET on Friday (Sept. 10), before wrapping up the week on Saturday (Sept. 11) against St. Louis at 3 p.m. ET
