ATHENS, Ohio -- "From Court Street to Columbus, from WV to Kentucky and beyond," the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield is set to broadcast Ohio Football 2021. Over the air, online, and through a new mobile ap, Bobcat fans all over the region, state, and world can listen to coverage of the Bobcats.
Russ Eisenstein returns for his 14th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats." Rob Cornelius continues to serve as color analyst. He's been a part of the network for over two decades. Together, the duo has called some of the greatest moments in Ohio Athletics history.
"It's our goal to paint the total picture of the games and the moments for fans everywhere," said Eisenstein. "We've been fortunate to be able to put words to many Cat classics over the years, and I hope listeners enjoy seeing this season through our eyes too."
Cornelius is an Ohio alum, so being in the booth is special for him.
"I'm always proud when Russ and I can bring you our team and our school in the 'Golden Age' of Ohio Football," said Cornelius.
In total, twelve stations make up the network, nine stations air gameday coverage. New this season is WYDB (94.5 FM) in Dayton. WXTQ (105.5 FM) in Athens continues to serve as the network's flagship station. The partnership with the WOUB network has been a strong one. Stations in Cambridge, Chillicothe, Ironton, and Zanesville add to the coverage area. Fans to the east of Cincinnati can tune-in to WAOL (99.5 FM). One of the stations in the Marietta, McConnelsville, and St. Mary's, WV cluster will carry the game each week. This week, WJAW (100.9 FM) will air the game. In Columbus, WZCB (105.3 FM) has the city and metro area covered.
For those who want to listen via a free mobile ap, Learfield has created "The Varsity Network." Once downloaded, select Ohio to follow, and you'll receive notifications for the start of the game broadcast. Games and coach's shows will be available for on-demand listening. Plus, you can listen to broadcasts from schools all over the country.
Tunein is still an option for mobile listening, however this year it's a pay-to-listen service.
The broadcasts are still available, for free, online through this link via OhioBobcats.com (
Listen Live). All games and shows will be archived in the on-demand section as well.
Gameday coverage begins one-hour prior to kickoff with "Bobcat Gamenight-Presented by Bud Light." In total, 20 minutes of content is pre-produced including: two scene setters, the rewind, the other mic, the clinic on the opposition, and the "
Tim Albin Pregame Interview-presented by Labatt."
This week, airtime is set for 6 p.m. with the kickoff for Ohio and Syracuse at 7 p.m.
