ATHENS, Ohio -- The swimming and diving team has released their 2021-22 schedule, head coach
Mason Norman announced today (Aug. 2). The Bobcats will compete in a full complement of non-conference and Mid-American Conferences meets this season, returning to a full slate of meets after an abbreviated schedule due to COVID-19 last season.
Ohio will kick off the season during Homecoming Week with their annual Green vs. White exhibition meet on Oct. 8. The regular season will begin with the Bobcats traveling to Lexington, Ky. on Oct. 15 for a meet against the Kentucky Wildcats that will begin at 4 p.m.
The Bobcats will then have two straight conference meets, the first on the road at Ball State on Oct. 30, with the start time still to be determined. Ohio will then return home for a meet against Buffalo on Nov. 6, with the meet scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Aquatic Center.
The Bobcats will then compete in the Magnus Cup hosted by Cleveland State from Nov. 18 until Nov. 20 before going on winter break. Ohio will return to the pool in 2022 on Jan. 7 with a home meet against Marshall. The scheduled start time is 1 p.m. in the Aquatic Center.
The following weekend will see Ohio participate in separate dive-only and swim-only events. The dive-only event will be hosted by Buffalo and will be from Jan. 13 through Jan. 15. The swim-only event will be a one-day meet, hosted by Akron, on Jan. 14 at 4 p.m.
Senior Day in Athens will be on Jan. 29 as the Bobcats host both Bowling Green and Cleveland State. The start time for this meet is yet to be announced. Ohio will wrap up the regular season by participating in the OSU Winter Invite, hosted by Ohio State, on Feb. 11 through Feb. 13.
Postseason competition will begin with the MAC Championships hosted by Bowling Green. That competition will start on Feb. 23 and run until Feb. 26. The NCAA Zone C Diving meet will be from March 8 until March 12, and the NCAA Championships will be held in Atlanta, Ga. this season from March 16 through March 19.
Ohio will also have the opportunity to compete in the CSCAA National Invitational in Elkhart, IN. That meet will be held on March 10 through March 12.
The Bobcats are coming off a fourth-place finish in the MAC Championships last season, their best finish since 2013. The 2020-21 team also placed 16 members on the Academic All-MAC team.
